With all the news surrounding a new sports/entertainment arena complex in the old Sacramento Railyards (how can we avoid the news, it’s everywhere!) talk of a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) is being thrown around. Leaders from all of the counties adjacent to Sacramento even came together to discuss such a group two weeks ago.
While there are no details on what a regional JPA would or wouldn’t require from or benefit the counties surrounding Sacramento, I’m wondering what you think. Being from Roseville myself I know I will have little say in the matter but I do go to and spend money in Sacramento A LOT. However they have a long way to go to get me to go there and spend more money. I don’t know how often I would go to the arena for anything but I do see myself going down to the Railyards project quite a bit if it happens as it’s been envisioned….
Thunder Valley obviously thinks the money trickles back to Placer County, as evidence of their trippling of the corporate investement they just commited to the Kings. I’m just wondering if/how we benefit in Roseville if/when Sacramento gets a new downtown facility done. If we’re going to be part of a JPA, how will that work?
